Gamer Chicks

Every girl understands the consequences when she goes into an online game. We're either going to get teamed up with the jerks that think we're fat and ugly dykes or we end up the guys that feel like they have to do better than us and if they can't keep up they disappear. On the other hand, we can end up with the guy that suddenly becomes obsessive. "Oh my god, it's a girl! We have to become friends! What's your name? Where do you live? Can I have your number?"
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have the creeper stalker than the jerk cause the stalker at least tries to work with me. It just gets annoying. Rarely can we find guys that are just cool with us, accept the fact that we're girls and team well. If guys would just understand we like this type so much better, we'd be able to like them more and enjoy playing with them (or against).
We're slowly starting to get accepted into the gaming world, but we're still having to prove ourselves. Thankfully there's groups like the Fragdolls that are a nationally playing , all female, team that can show guys that we can play. Then there's also the comic Ctrl+Alt+Del (you may have seen in the name my links list) that deals with all sorts of gaming subjects. It makes fun of them, it compliments them, and it even has created a "religion" based solely on gaming through one of the main characters. My favorite thing about it besides it being funny is the incorporation of the gamer chick. Leah is portrayed as an even better gamer than her crazy obsessed with gaming, boyfriend. I just in general love how much she is shown kicking ass.
Girl's can play games guys, get over it.

Isn't that always the story though. I know how you feel. I played hockey on a guys team for 4 years and as soon as we hit a certain age I started to get benched because no one thought I could play any more. That is awesome that you are so passionate about it! Keep it going and females just may take over the gaming world (or at least come to a peaceful agreement). The thing that bugs me the most about it is that this seems to happen with everything that is deemed "masculine". Maybe that is the next change females need to work on?

I think that's awesome that you play games with the boys. I have a lot of guy friends who believe that boys are better than girls at everything. I know so many girls who can beat boys who think they are so great at anything. I have a friend who is probably the fastest girl I know and all through high school track boys would say they could beat her at any race. One day one raced her and lost. They just can't accept the fact that girls are becoming their equals.
